"Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed." Proverbs 19:17

His Mission

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."  Proverbs 22:6

How do you build the NEXT 50 years of an entire nation? You start by investing in a generation of Zambian children long deprived of the opportunity to grow in knowledge and in truth.  Christian education is crucial to breaking the cycle of economic poverty that plagues the lives of the orphan and vulnerable children of Zambia.  We believe that the children’s lives will be set on an entirely new path as their eyes are opened—for the first time—to the possibility of who they can become and the change they can bring about in their own country.  Through YOU and the collective Body of Christ, God will build a new generation of men and women who lead with integrity and change the landscape of Zambia for the NEXT 50 years.

Over 8,000 Zambian children are currently educated in one of Family Legacy’s 18 primary schools, known as Legacy Academies.  Well-trained teachers instruct children who receive the individual attention needed to truly become educated, breaking the cycle of poverty in the process.  Through this personal attention and high-quality education, a generation of future leaders is in the making.

All teachers employed by Legacy Academy require teaching certificates or a degree, and world-renowned education trainers make their way to Zambia twice a year to lead seminars for Family Legacy’s educators.  The student to teacher ratio averages 30:1 at a Legacy Academy compared to over 150:1 at a public community school.

Children attending a Legacy Academy also receives a hot lunch each day at school.  Packed here in the US, these meals are a rice-based, vitamin and nutrient rich lunch that is transforming the way the students learn and engage at school.  Many of these children are accustomed to coming to school on an empty stomach and struggling to pay attention due to hunger. Now, children are not only receiving a high-quality education but also a nutritious meal each day.

The feeding program is implemented at each of our 18 schools using a PTA system, engaging student’s caretakers in this important component of our ministry and furthering our reach to the families of the communities as well.
