Moni (Hi), I am 19 years old, and I have recently returned from my third mission trip to Zambia, Africa. On my first trip in 2015, I fell in love with the orphans who live near the capital city of Lusaka, and I couldn’t wait to return in 2016. This Summer I flew back to Zambia to visit “my kids”! It was another amazing trip that gave me the opportunity to grow even closer to the orphans, and to better understand their desperate needs. Once again, at the end of the trip it was so hard to say good-by. I deeply love them!
Upon my return home this past Summer, I began praying for God to show me ways that I could help the orphans in a more impactful way – and to serve them with whatever I have to offer. The Lord quickly answered that prayer by laying on my heart the desire to build another home at the orphanage called the Tree of Life Children's Village. The Tree of Life is where over 700 orphans have been rescued from abandonment and unsafe living conditions.
The children are placed in homes and start receiving full-time care by devoted housemothers and other support staff including counselors, social workers, and healthcare professionals. All children receive three meals a day, personalized medical care, enrichment programs, children’s choir, baseball and soccer teams, discipleship, counseling, and a safe place where they can enjoy being kids apart from the terrible situations they once faced. The children at our Tree of Life Children’s Village also attend Legacy Academy where they are taught by a staff of highly qualified and dedicated teachers. It is a tremendous opportunity for the children who have the chance to live there.
The need is great to rescue more kids; and in order to do that, they need more houses. More homes mean more transformed lives! I feel God has called me to be His hands and feet for these orphans, and He has given me a huge heart for them!
I returned to Zambia over the Christmas holidays and the trip strengthened my commitment to serve these children and build this home.
Please help build another beautiful home for these vulnerable children by helping me raise $150,000! I know that the fundraising goal is significant, especially for a 19-year-old girl, but God is able! I hope and pray that you read this and realize that I am totally committed to saving these kids’ lives and pointing them to their heavenly Father. Proverbs 19:17 says that "If you give to the poor, you are lending to the Lord and he will repay you." Jesus also said that “pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is to visit orphans in their distress and trouble.” Help me answer that call!
REUBEN'S HOUSE: I have decided to name the home Reuben's House in memory of Reuben Mwelwa who was in our Camp Life group the first year we traveled to Zambia. My family grew very close to Reuben. Reuben was smart, a true leader, and he had big dreams. He was confident that his dream to travel to the USA would come true someday. However, the Lord had much better plans for Reuben; he went to be with the Lord in January of 2017. This home will house 12 orphan boys who will know about Reuben and honor him.
